Second edition of the edition of the Phaedrus Fables, originally published in Cambridge and London, in 1726 by the world-famous philologist and classical scholar Richard Bentley (1662-1742), Master of Trinity College, Cambridge, considered the founder of historical philology.
Here this edition is included in Bentleys edition of the Comedies of Terence. In the same year 1727 Burman launched his prestigious edition of Phaedrus (see nr. 31) attacking this Bentley edition rejecting many of the numerous frivolous emendations.
